Both commercial insulation and residential insulation go a long ways in helping businesses and homeowners reduce energy costs. The problem is, most businesses and homes don’t have the proper insulation installed. Because of this they are forced to deal with unbelievably high monthly energy bills.

Spray Foam Insulation Can Help

Spray foam insulation is a type of material that is able to fill gaps, holes, cracks, and crevices. Once sprayed it will expand and completely seal off the area. This means air flow will be reduced and energy will be saved.

Spray foam can also keep moisture out and prevent mildew and mold from growing. So not only will it help you reduce your energy bill, but it can also help you protect the health of your family and employees. Spray foam can also be used as an attic insulation. The reason spray foam is great for the attic is because of its high R-value. R-value is what determines how resistant a material is to heat flow. And the higher the R-value, the more effective a material is.

There are two types of spray foam. Open cell and closed cell. While both are made using polyurethane, they are different in the way they function. Closed cell foam is filled with gas while open cell foam is filled with air. Both are great at preventing air from entering a space, but only closed cell foam can act as a moisture barrier.

What About Fiberglass Insulation?
Fiberglass insulation is without a doubt the most commonly used attic insulation. It's soft and can be found in a variety of different forms. While fiberglass is non-flammable, and does not rot, it absorbs wetness. This means it is not ideal for damp locations such as basements.

Spray foam on the other hand does not soak up dampness. It instead acts as a barrier and keeps it out. The big benefit fiberglass has over spray foam is that it is the type of insulation the homeowner can install themselves.

Blown in insulation can also be installed by the homeowner. However, we never recommend you install insulation yourself. Unless of course you have the knowledge and experience to do so.
Installing your own installation can save you a ton of money. But if you do it wrong, it could end up costing you way more.

It is therefore best you hire professional foam insulation contractors. They will be able to install the insulation the right way. When hiring contractors, make sure you take your time and do plenty of research. Not all contractors are created equal. It is actually quite common for contractors to go from state to state looking for jobs.

Many of these contractors have zero experience. They simply hire cheap labor and make off with a huge profit. So before you agree to work with any contractor, make sure you check them out. Make sure they are who they say they are, and have the right experience to do the task at hand.
